21-year-old man faces 2 capital murder charges

A former Mississippi College running back and a 32-year-old man were shot to death Saturday and authorities have made an arrest.

Police say Fred Smith and 27-year-old Quintyn Wilson, who played at Mississippi College in 2002 and 2003, were shot to death at a south Jackson apartment.

Police have charged 21-year-old Jamal Johnson, of Jackson, with two counts of capital murder. Johnson is expected to make an initial court appearance Monday.

Bond has not been set.

Police found both Smith and Wilson inside an apartment with gunshot wounds. Smith died at a hospital and Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Johnson, Smith and Wilson lived in the same apartment complex, but revealed no possible motive or details of the arrest.
