West Point police get $200K grant

The West Point Police Department will use a $200,000 grant to pay for new computer system for patrol cars.

The grant came from the Justice Department.

The police department will equip patrol cars with high-speed Internet access, radar, GPS and video and audio equipment.

Mayor Scott Ross says plans are to add the fire department to the system.

Police Chief Steve Bingham says the system also will allow the department to keep track of where patrol cars are at any time.
