PRC student hit on way to school
A young man was hit by a car when he attempted to cross the street in the middle of traffic on his way to school Wednesday morning.
The juvenile is a student of Pearl River Central High School and for an unknown reason was crossing the street when a car hit him, said Superintendent Dennis Penton.
“I certainly don’t know why he crossed in front of this car,” Penton said.
Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Cpl. Johnny Poulos said the 15 year old juvenile was not seriously injured and after being transported to Highland Community Hospital was released in about 30 minutes. The accident occurred at about 7:45 that morning.
The driver of the vehicle, Michael Medine Jr., was not injured in the accident, Poulos said. The area the juvenile was attempting to cross the street was not a school cross walk.
“He just rant across lanes of traffic trying to get to the school,” Poulos said.
No charges have been pressed.
