Another Coast Contractor has been arrested and charged with Felony Home Repair Fraud, Attorney General Jim Hood announced Friday.

William Wesley Mohr, age 41, living in Picayune, was arrested Thursday on a warrant signed by Judge Bruce Strong in Harrison County Justice Court. Mohr came to the Mississippi Gulf Coast from upstate New York after Hurricane Katrina, doing business under the name Mohr Construction. Investigators with the Consumer Protection Division of the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office served the warrant on Mohr at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center where he had turned himself in to agents of the Mississippi State Auditor’s Office on unrelated fraud charges. After posting his bond on those charges, the Attorney General’s Investigators booked Mohr into the Harrison County Adult Detention Center. He is being held there until he posts a $25,000 bond on this charge.

A Biloxi resident filed a complaint against Mohr with the Consumer Protection Division of the Attorney General’s Office alleging that Mohr Construction was paid $14,550 to provide specific materials and labor for a home being rebuilt to replace a home lost to Hurricane Katrina. According to the homeowner, Mohr failed to provide any materials or labor.

“We will be working in conjunction with Harrison County District Attorney Cono Caranna and his office regarding the resolution of this case,” said Attorney General Jim Hood.

No court date had been set by late Friday.
