An accident Monday night on Mississippi Highway 43 North near Rock Ranch Road resulted in the death of the driver.

Mississippi Highway Patrol Public Information Officer Cpl. Johnny Poulos said the one vehicle accident occurred at about 9:45 p.m. Monday as the 1990 Jeep Wrangler was heading south on the highway.

The driver, James Blackwell, 20, of Bogalusa, left the road on the right side of the road, struck a culvert and the vehicle overturned, ejecting the two passengers, Casimir Burras, 28, of Bogalusa and Corey Dillion, 21, of Franklinton. Both Burras and Dillion were transported to Forrest General Hospital with severe injuries.

Blackwell was partially ejected during the accident. He died on the scene, Poulos said.

As with all fatal accidents, the involvement of alcohol or drugs is under investigation.
