Two teenage brothers died Sunday afternoon from the injuries they sustained in a crash on Interstate 55 in Jackson.

Hinds County Coroner Sharon Grisham-Stewart says 18-year-old Preston Garrett, of Madison, and his 15-year-old half brother Brandon Woodward, of Jackson, died in the crash on northbound I-55 between Lakeland Drive and Woodrow Wilson Avenue.

Garrett was the driver of a station wagon traveling south on I-55 with a female passenger in the front and Woodward in the back seat. Stewart said Garrett lost control of the vehicle. The car crossed the median and was hit on the driver’s side by a car traveling north.

Garrett died at the scene. Woodward was taken to a hospital where he later died.
