Gulfport company wins $61.6 million contract

United States Marine of Gulfport has been awarded a $61.6 million contract to design and construct 10 patrol boats for the Kuwaiti Navy under the Foreign Military Sales Program.

The vessel is designed for coastal patrol and other special operations at sea.

The shipbuilding will take place in Gulfport. It’s expected to be completed in 2013.

The contract was awarded by the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command. The Foreign Military Sales Program is the government-to-government method for selling U.S. defense equipment, services, and training.
