George Steve Nixon

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 9, 2009, at 1 p.m. at New Hebron Baptist Church, for Mr. George Steve Nixon, 63, of Carriere who passed away Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in Carriere.
Burial will be in the Carriere Cemetery under the direction of Baylous Funeral Home.
The Rev. Rodrick Deflanders will officiate at the service.
A native of Carriere, Mr Nixon worked for Chevron for 26 years until he became disabled. He was a member of New Hebron Baptist Church and a U.S. Veteran. He graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1965. Mr. Nixon was a financial assistant of New Hebron Baptist Church and a devoted community helper. He was a loving father, son, brother, grandfather, step-grandfather and uncle.
He was preceded in death by: his wife, Bobbie E. Nixon; mother, Gladys Nixon; son, Eric D. Nixon; brother, Dewayne J. Nixon; and sister, Alfreta Nixon.
Survivors include: a daughter, Moya Nixon of Carriere; father, James “Teddy” Nixon, of Carriere; three brothers, Larry Nixon, Roger Nixon of Missouri, Perry Nixon, Sr., of Carriere; four sisters, Julia “June” Ellis, Jane Tatum, Coranell Frazier, Alfreda Deflanders, all of Carriere. He is also survived by: his grandchildren, Kelis Nixon, Kaleigha Nixon, Kendall Morrison, all of Carriere; his devoted companion, Dovie Williams of Picayune; devoted future son-in-law Randall Morrison of Picayune.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 9, 10 a.m. -1 p.m. at New Hebron Baptist in Carriere.
Baylous Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
