Dog fighting bust nets 11 arrests
Eleven people have been arrested in the break up of a dog fighting ring in Jefferson Davis County.
Sheriff Henry McCullum says at least two dogs were euthanized.
McCullum says he didn’t know how many dogs were taken into custody or to get treatment from a veterinarian. McCullum says he could not discuss the evidence collected.
Debra Boswell, executive director of the Mississippi Animal Rescue League, said seven dogs were brought to that shelter. Only five remain in their custody after severe injuries led to two euthanizations.
Boswell says the dogs are evidence of the state of Mississippi to be used in prosecution.
