Cottage request denied by City Council

The Gautier City Council has denied approval for a special exception permit to allow 85 Mississippi Cottages in the town.
The city planning commission had denied the request in March. The city council rejected the request Tuesday.
The city’s agreement with Mississippi Emergency Management Agency allows tenant-occupied cottages in approved manufactured or mobile home parks. A location anywhere else requires a special exception permit.
Those seeking the permit contend the cottages were consistent with zoning ordinance and permitted structures in the area.
