A destroyer from Canada’s Atlantic fleet is docking in Baltimore this weekend and officials will allow public tours.

Athabaskan, an Iroquis-class destroyer, is docking Friday at the Broadway Pier in Fells Point.

In the wake of Hurricane Katrina in September 2005, the ship was one of several Canadian vessels that were deployed to Mississippi and Louisiana to assist in disaster-relief operations. It has a crew of about 300 sailors, according to the Canadian Navy’s Web site.
