One of Mississippi’s oldest children’s help organizations is considering relocating its headquarters from Jackson to Star.
Baptist Children’s Village Executive Director Rory Lee said the organization is looking into the possibility of moving to a plot of land in south Rankin County it has owned since 1989. He said the purpose of the move would be to provide better accessibility to families in central Mississippi.
Baptist Children’s Village began operating in 1879 as an orphanage in Jackson.
The organization provides a number of children’s services, including temporary shelter for neglected and abused children through the Department of Human Services.
