ATM maker Triton plans layoffs

ATM maker Triton Systems says it will lay off workers at its Long Beach and Memphis facilities.
Triton spokesman Brian Goff says the company has not decided how many workers will be laid off or when. There are 225 employees in Long Beach and 45 in Memphis.
Goff says the layoffs are necessary after talks ended with a potential Korean buyer this past week after months of scrutiny by the U.S. Department of Justice.
He says Triton must now “reposition ourselves as a stand-alone ATM company.”
The proposed sale of Triton Systems to a Korean competitor was dropped last week after months of scrutiny by the U.S. Department of Justice, which did not rule on the merger.
