Wildcats drop four games

The Wildcats dropped four games, losing a doubleheader on the road at Hinds on Saturday and another one at home to LSU-Eunice on Sunday, dropping to 17-17 overall with the defeats.

On Saturday in Raymond, the two losses, 12-6 and 5-4, dropped PRCC into the cellar of the South Division as the Wildcats stand 5-9 in league play.

In Saturday’s first game, Wildcat starter Josh Jones (2-3) got the loss and PRCC finished with seven hits, led by Ashley Graeter of Poplarville High who doubled and singled, while Derek Tortorich of Pearl River Central had two base hits. Matt Discon of Pearl River Central doubled.

In the nightcap game that stretched into eight innings, Wildcat reliever Wil Mann (0-1) got his first loss of the year after taking over in the seventh for the starter Graeter and PRCC finished with 10 hitsm in the loss led by Discon of and Tortorich with two singles each and Tristan Rogers doubled.

On Sunday at home, defending national and Region 23 champion LSU-Eunice blasted PRCC twice by the same 16-6 score to improve to 34-5.

In the opener a nine inning contest, PRCC starter Patrick Daugherty (2-4) got the loss and Adrian Lee paced PRCC at the plate with a double and a single, while Jake Hawkins had two base hits, Ethan Burt homered (two RBIs) and Zack Farrar doubled. Also Graeter and Picayune’s Alex Riser each had RBI-singles.

In the nightcap, Mann (0-2) got the loss and PRCC finished with 12 hits, led by Farrar’s double and single, while Scott Ashley, Michael Lindsey and Rogers each had two singles and Discon had a double.

Pearl River returns to action Tuesday when Baton Rouge CC (La.) visits for a 4 p.m. doubleheader, then MACJC South Division rival Southwest Mississippi visits Friday for a 2 p.m. twin bill in Wildcat Stadium.
