A Simpson County couple is searching for their lost mementos after last week’s powerful tornado and pieces of their lives are turn up in some unlike places.

Love letters and mail have been found about 50 miles from their Magee home. A picture was located near the Alabama-Mississippi state line about 145 miles away.

Shawna Mangum, who is a teacher, said the man who found the picture contacted the elementary school where she works, sent an e-mail of the picture, and then dropped it in the mail. The man knew where to call because the picture had three women in Magee T-shirts.

Shawna and Brian Mangum lost almost everything when the tornado struck their home.

Last week’s storms spawned six twisters.
