Two Picayune residents arrested in Waveland for drug charges

On Monday, two Picayune residents were arrested on drug charges during a traffic stop in Waveland.

The arrest took place at approximately 2 p.m. Monday when Waveland Police officer B. Pitre conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for following too close, according to a press release from the Waveland Police Department.

Further investigation by Pitre discovered a glass pipe with burnt residue on it. The officer also found two boxes of pseudoephedrine, which is a commonly used precursor for making methamphetamine. In addition, the officer found several ecstasy pills, the release states.

Arrested in the stop were Lawrence “Mark” Edward Allen, 30, of 123 Inside Rd. and Nemiah Gabbard, 42, of Picayune. Allen was charged with possession of a controlled substance (ecstasy). Bond for Allen was set at $5,000. Gabbard was charged with Possession of paraphernalia and possession of precursor chemicals. Bond for Gabbard was set at $5,500, the release states.
