The Bearcats scored a pair of runs in the top of the seventh inning to break a 2-2 tie and get by with a 4-2 win. The decision knots Picayune and Long Beach atop the league standings at 9-1 with two games left in division action.

Picayune meets Poplarville twice this week while LBHS takes on St. Stanislaus in two games to decide the four seeds for the upcoming state playoffs.

Brett Milner and Evan Nichelson drove in runs for the Maroon Tide Friday night, while Hunter Gill took the tough luck loss as the Bearcats scored the two winning runs on just one infield single and Picayune committed two costly errors.

The Tide, ranked 11th in the state, took on top ranked and unbeaten Sumrall Saturday and Sumrall moved to 22-0 with a 9-5 win.

Jay Dedeaux had a double and a single for the Tide, while Bryce Ladner and Jared Bales each doubled. Bales took the loss in relief of Jonathan Hickman.

Picayune, ranked 11th in the state, stands 13-3 overall and travels to Poplarville Tuesday
