A mother of two will paddle more than 1,000 miles in an outrigger canoe to show her support for environmental legislation.

Margo Pellegrino will travel from South Florida to New Orleans over the next few weeks. She’s working in partnership with the Natural Resources Defense Council, and pushing for legislation to protect beaches and coastal waters.

Along the way, Pellegrino will stop and collect messages from residents to send to elected officials. She’s expected to be making stops in Sarasota, Tampa and Tallahassee.
