Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour is hosting a public meeting this month for state and local officials to discuss the federal economic stimulus package.
The stimulus summit is set for 2 p.m. April 16 at the Jackson Convention Complex.
Barbour said Thursday that he hopes the federal government will provide enough information about regulations for how the stimulus money may be spent. He’s asking state agency managers to discuss their plans for the money and to take questions from the audience at the summit.
Mississippi is receiving an estimated $2.5 billion to $2.8 billion through the stimulus. The money covers 27 months, from October 2008 through December 2010.
