Imprisoned former attorney Paul Minor wants a federal appeals court to grant him emergency bail to spend time with his dying wife.

The 63-year-old Minor was convicted of bribing two judges in 2007 and sentenced to 11 years.

Minor asked the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals to throw out the conviction because the trial judge allegedly used improper jury instructions.

And while the court considers that appeal, Minor wants to be released from prison so he can be with his wife, whose “demise is imminent” from brain cancer.

Prosecutors said Thursday that Minor’s bond was revoked before his trial because of an alcohol-related accident and other violations, and he hasn’t proven he’s not a danger to society.

The court did not immediately rule on the matter.
