Housing, training for homeless planned in Gulfport

A non-profit group says the 60-bed homeless shelter it plans in downtown Gulfport will train its occupants for jobs and help them find work.

William Richardson of the Pass Christian Delisle Community Center said at a news conference Friday that the shelter is being designed to look and feel like a nice, country home.

It will be across the street from the Feed My Sheep soup kitchen. Community development block grant money and a donation from the Gulf Coast Community Foundation will pay for the project.
