Gulfport police are investigating a weekend shooting in which one nightclub patron died and another was hurt.

Harrison County coroner Gary Hargrove identified the victim as 34-year-old Anthony McCord of Gulfport. Hargrove says McCord was shot once to the chest.

The second victim, who police say was an innocent bystander, was wounded in the leg and transported to Memorial Hospital where her condition was not known.

Police Chief Alan Weatherford says the shooting occurred Sunday about 3 a.m. at the Boiler Room. Police say a preliminary investigation showed the shooting happened inside of the club during an altercation.
