The federal trial of seven people accused of stealing firearms and drugs from the Greenwood Police Department is scheduled to take place on June 15.
The trial was set for Aberdeen on March 30, but Oxford attorney Josh Turner, who is defending one of the seven accused, requested that the court move the trial date. U.S. District Judge Sharion Aycock granted the motion.
Last year, eight people were indicted for the removal of 11 handguns, five machine guns and 90 pounds of marijuana from the police department. The indictment accuses several inmates and a county employee of working together to steal the weapons.
Since the indictment, Freddie McGee has pleaded guilty to conspiracy and being a felon in possession of a firearm.
