Friends and family greeted members of the Naval Mobile Construction Battalion 7 on their return from Iraq and Afghanistan.

A plane carrying 310 Seabees arrived in Mississippi on Saturday.

A unit spokesman said no casualties occurred among the Gulfport-based Seabees during their battle-zone tour. They were part of 600 Seabees deployed to the Middle East. The remainder are expected to return in mid-March.

The Seabees had originally deployed to Iraq, but were later moved in a major U.S. buildup in Afghanistan. In Iraq, they had supported the First Marine Expeditionary Force. In Afghanistan, the Seabees served in Hellman Province in the country’s southern region.
