NEWS BRIEF – Tax collector to reclaim job

It will be almost four months late, but Washington County Tax Collector Patricia Lee will be sworn in Monday for her second term.

A jury cleared Lee earlier this month of fraud charges after her second trial. But Lee had been unable to return to her office because she had a problem getting a required $100,000 personal bond. Lee said she has gotten a bond through another company.

Lee and eight current or former deputy clerks from the county tax collector’s office were indicted on fraud charges in 2007 related to a probe into addresses being changed on automobile registration forms and the listing of county addresses rather than city addresses.
