Mississippi casino gambling revenue was $219 million in February, up $1 million over January.
Mississippi State Tax Commission records, however, showed that compared to February 2008, statewide revenues were down $34.7 million.
Tax Commission records posted Thursday show the Gulf Coast casinos took in $101.2 million in February, up $5 million from January but down about $9 million from February 2008.
Casinos along the Mississippi River took in $117.7 million in February, down about $4 million from January and down $25 million from February 2008.
Casino revenue, or “win,” is the net amount of money won from gamblers. It is not profit. It represents casino revenue only — separate from hotel, restaurant or bar revenues generated by the resorts.
