Members of the Coalition for Change will unveil Saturday a new civil rights monument on the lawn of the Lee County Courthouse lawn.

Coalition spokesman James Hull says in case of rain, the event will be held at the same time and location March 28.

The monument is a 7-foot-tall granite structure carved into the shape of Mississippi.

Hull says monument depicts people holding hands below a Bible set into the foot of a mountain. A dove flies overhead, and the words from Amos 5:24 are engraved underneath.

The coalition has been working since March 2009 to a civil rights monument.
