Thursday evening Picayune Police Department Investigators conducted a buy bust operation, apprehending one suspect.

Investigator Mike Odom said the suspect, Mikey Lee Cuevas, 36, of 24048 Amos Cuevas Rd., Kiln was charged with conspiracy to sell a controlled substance.

The operation began with e-mail and cell phone conversations where the sting set up a meet at the north Winn-Dixie. The meeting was scheduled to arrange a buy of finished methamphetamine, Odom said.

When the meet took place Thursday afternoon, the confidential informant was asked by Cuevas to move to another location to make the deal. Odom said for the safety of the operation the suspect was taken down and searched at that point.

A search of Cuevas did not find any methamphetamine on him, but Odom said he suspects the drug could have been hidden in Cuevas’ person by inserting it into a body cavity or by swallowing it.

Odom said about a gram of methamphetamine is about the size of a packet of sugar.

Since the drug was not recovered Cuevas was charged with conspiracy to sell a controlled substance.
