The Jones County Sheriff’s Department is looking for thieves involved in a string of auto thefts.

Deputies say 12 late model sports utility vehicles have been recovered since last Wednesday.

Sheriff Alex Hodge said it appeared that the vehicles were stolen from primarily the Jackson area and many have been configured with false identification numbers and fraudulent paperwork to get the vehicles registered in Jones County.
