Stone Barefield Sr., who served 24 years in the Mississippi House and practiced law in Hattiesburg, has died. He was 81.

Barefield died at his home on Friday. The family did not release the cause of death. Services are 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at Moore Funeral Home, funeral home officials said.

Barefield also served as attorney for the Forrest County Board of Supervisors for more than 20 years.
