BREAKING NEWS – Boaters rescued from river

Two people boaters were rescued from the Bouie River after their boat began drifting and eventually overturned.

Tommy MacDermott, spokesman for the North Forrest Volunteer Fire Department, says a woman was found clinging onto a rock in the river and a man was found just yards away, holding onto the gas tank of the boat on Tuesday.

MacDermott says both victims were taken to Forrest General Hospital. He says their injuries were not serious.

The names of the man and woman have not been released.

MacDerrmott says recent rains have caused the river to rise and the current was vert swift.
