Designers have proposed a $32 million Maritime and Seafood Industry Museum in Biloxi to replace one destroyed by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
The city has about $6 million in FEMA funds and insurance money available for it.
The Biloxi City Council this week asked all parties to come back April 7 with a compromise.
Museum officials say the 38,000-square-foot museum could be built in stages. It would have exhibit space, an atrium to display the restored Biloxi Lighthouse lens, a research library, meeting rooms, gift shop, restaurants and a 252-seat theater.
Also planned are a hurricane experience where visitors will get an idea of the wind and water surge in Biloxi during Hurricane Katrina.
