Officials say a Gulfport middle school teacher and basketball coach has been suspended following her arrest on sex charges, including a 14-year-old girl.

Catryna L. Martin was a teacher at North Gulfport Middle School. Harrison County School Superintendent Henry Arledge says Martin was arrested Friday and suspended. He also said Martin will be fired from her posts and can appeal the firing to the school board.

Martin was charged with one count each of sexual battery and molestation. She’s accused of committing the crimes while tutoring the former student.

Martin was taken to the Harrison County jail. Bond has been set at $1 million.
