Mississippi’s U.S. senators say the Department of Transportation has released more than $4 million in funding for airports in the state.
Sens. Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker, both Mississippi Republicans, said in a statement that the money will go to the 20 airports and will help increase efficiency, safety and security and provide an economic boost to communities.
Funding ranges from more than $1 million to the Gulfport Biloxi Regional Airport to help pay for the final phase of a terminal modification program, to $66,426 to the G.V. Sonny Montgomery Airfield in the city of Forest to rehabilitate a runway.
