The University of Southern Mississippi is planning a groundbreaking on March 27 for a new 864-bed, living-learning residential community.
The project is a continuation of the university’s housing master plan, with the goal of being a Silver Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Certified residential complex, believed to be the first in the state.
The $37.7 million development will consist of four, four-story buildings in a gated community. The rooms will be double occupancy with a private bath. In addition, each resident in the facility will be able to connect to the internet.
Century Park, named in celebration of USM’s 100th anniversary, will be ready for occupancy in the fall of 2010.
