Miss. man to be sentenced in March on tax charge

Attorney Marshall Sanders will be sentenced March 10 in Jackson on federal tax charges.

Sanders pleaded guilty last year to two misdemeanor counts of failure to file tax returns for the years 2001 and 2002. He was indicted in last May on three counts of failing to file taxes in 2000, 2001 and 2002. In November, he pleaded guilty to two lesser counts as part of a plea agreement.

Sanders faces up to a year in prison and a $100,000 fine on each count. He agreed to pay taxes owed, plus penalties.

The government claims Sanders grossed nearly $2.8 million in those years and he had not filed an individual tax return since 1994.
