The Board of Regents will formally select the new president of Kansas State University during its meeting Wednesday.
The only finalist still vying for the post is Kirk Schulz after two other finalists withdrew from the selection process. Schulz is a vice president at Mississippi State University.
Another finalist, Robert Kennedy, announced Tuesday that he would remain at the University of Maine, where he is president. And the chancellor at East Carolina University, Steve Ballard, withdrew from the selection last month.
Kansas State is seeking to replace longtime President Jon Wefald. Wefald plans to retire at the end of the academic year after serving 23 years in the post.
The new president will get a chance to answer questions from reporters after the Board of Regents makes the selection.
