A Hattiesburg man will spend the rest of his life in prison for his role in the 2006 murder of a Jackson teenager.
Thirty-year-old Lawrence Jerome Gaines II pleaded guilty to capital murder Thursday in Forrest County Circuit Court for the September 2006 slaying of 16-year-old Jeffrey Rashad Gunn.
Gaines was one of two people involved in the kidnapping and murder of Gunn, whose body was found under a bridge in Forrest County.
Twenty-three-year-old Duvhyn Thomas, also of Hattiesburg, was charged with accessory after the fact for his role in Gunns death.
Thomas pleaded guilty in May, but court officials said his sentence date has not been set.
