A Bay St. Louis High School teacher fired earlier this month for his alleged relationship with a female student has been charged with sexual battery.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Byrd says deputies have arrested 25-year-old Steven Seth Tadlock, who is accused of having sexual intercourse with a girl who was 17 at the time.

Tadlock, of Ocean Springs, was being held pending an initial court appearance. A Jackson County judge set bond at $10,000 and Tadlock was released on bail.

The Bay-Waveland School District fired Tadlock on Feb. 13.
