Blood drive for ‘Papa’ Dodd

“Words cannot express the thoughts, love, and prayers we have felt during our time of need since our father, Jimmy Dodd’s accident. “Papa” was working in the yard burning limbs Saturday, January 24 around 2:30 p.m. and an incident occurred, which is still unknown, that caused him severe second and third degree burns to 40 percent of his upper body.
“Papa was immediately transported to Highland Hospital and remained there until he was air lifted by Lear Jet to Baton Rouge General Hospital’s burn unit.
“We have witnessed the Lord’s faithfulness through each one of your prayers in getting him past the most critical phase which was the first 72 hours. The next milestone will be reaching day 10 which includes getting past fever, infection and the initial surgery. His expected time in the intensive care unit is estimated to be 40 days without any setbacks which will include extensive rehabilitation and numerous surgeries to follow.
“The outpouring of love has been a humbling experience for the entire Dodd family and we know that Papa is loved by many.
“Many have inquired about what they can do to help. The following are opportunities to participate in his journey to recovery: a Blood Drive, 12 noon – 5 p.m., Sunday, Feb. 8 at First Baptist Church Picayune; a benefit account for Jimmy “Papa” Dodd Sr. at First National Bank of Picayune and continued prayers, cards, and phone calls.”
Sincerely, The Dodd Family
