The state’s U.S. senators say the Department of Transportation has released more than $3.5 million for airport projects in Mississippi.
Sens. Thad Cochran and Roger Wicker, R-Miss., said in a statement that the grants will be administered by the Federal Aviation Administration.
Wicker said the funds are designed to improve airport safety and efficiency and will help ensure local airports have a positive impact on the state’s economic growth.
Among the largest grants were $807,500 to the Cleveland Municipal Airport, $581,770 to the Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional Airport and $139,650 to the C.A. Moore Airport in Lexington.
