PRCC splits games

POPLARVILLE — Homestanding Pearl River Community College split a pair of South Division games with visiting Southwest CC Monday night in Shivers Gym.
The Lady Wildcats fell 68-48.
The Lady Bears moved to 7-6 overall and 1-3 in league play with the win as Octavia Bearden scored 17 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in the win.
The Lady Wildcats fell to 1-14 overall and 1-3 in the league with the loss, despite getting game high 23 points from Shondreka Lee 23. Reneka Thompson added 13 points and Courtney Lacoste had a team high 7 rebounds.
The Wildcats won their second straight game with an 80-73 win over the Bears.
PRCC’s men move to 11-5 overall and even their league mark up at 2-2.
Timothy Ware had a game high 20 points in the win for PRCC while Nick Johnson added 12 points and 9 rebounds. Also, Rod Little chipped in 12 points and did Picayune’s Randy Perkins who tallied 12 as well. Donta Smith added 10 points as well as five steals and five assists and Kendrick Washington chipped in 10 points as the Wildcats placed six players in double figures in the win.
Pearl River’s women and men host MACJC South Division rival East Central Thursday at 5 p.m. (women) and 7 p.m. (men) in Shivers Gymnasium in Poplarville, then its more division action Monday, Jan. 26, when Copiah-Lincoln plays host in Wesson (6 p.m. women, 8 p.m. men).
