The Blue Devils closed out the regular season with victories over Long Beach and Bay High last week.

The 1-0 win over the Bearcats was followed up on Friday with a 3-1 win over Bay High in district play to close out the regular season.

The Blue Devils finished 15-4-1 overall and 8-4 in the division and earned the runner up spot in Division 8-4A behind St. Stanislaus which finished the season unbeaten in league play and handed PRC two of its four losses.

Head coach Joe Weems’ squad travels to Florence for the first game of the state Class 4A playoffs tonight at 6:00 PM.

“I am excited for our guys…..The boys worked hard and it paid off,” Weems said. “We achieved our overall goal to make the playoffs and now we are taking it one step at a time.”

In the win over Bay High Friday, Pacer Frierson scored twice and Jacob Foulon added another goal in the victory. Brady Jordan had two assists on the night in the Blue Devil win

We have the ability to play with any team if we play smart,” Weems added. “We have had chances to win every game we played this year and that says a lot.”

PRC faces a Florence team that captured the Division 6-4A championship and the right to host a first round game.

“Florence will be a tough test for us,” Weems said. “They are a real good team and we will have to produce a tremendous effort and stay focused to come out on top. If we can keep it close throughout the first half then its anybody’s game.

“I am proud of our Devils. Our soccer team is a great group of guys and they will leave it all on the field no matter the outcome.”
