A Mississippi motorist was killed when his car ran off an Assumption Parish road and sank in Bayou Bouef, state police said.

Forty-three-year-old Alvin T. Huyett of Pascagoula was in a right hand curve on Bayou Bouef (Buff) Road when his car ran off the road, slid down an embankment and rolled over, coming to rest upside down in the bayou.

Huyett, who was not wearing a seat belt, was dead at the scene of the Monday morning accident. He was the only person in the car.
