Mississippi Democrats who can’t go to Washington next week will hold their own gala in Jackson to celebrate Barack Obama’s presidential inauguration.

Tickets are $45 each for the black-tie-optional gala the night of Jan. 20 at the Mississippi Museum of Art.

Mississippi Attorney General Jim Hood, House Speaker Billy McCoy and several other state Democrats are expected to attend.

The event is a fundraiser for the state party.
