A 24-year-old Meridian man was killed in a weekend house fire and authorities are investigating the blaze.

Officials say Demetric Landrum was found dead in the living room of his home after firefighters responded to the report of a fire at the location.

Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler placed the time of death around 5:30 a.m. Saturday.

There were no apparent signs of foul play reported but a death investigation and a probe into the cause of the fire is under way. Landrum’s body has been sent to Jackson for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
