State transportation officials and CSX railroad have agreed to shut down eight Gulfport crossings that are considered dangerous.
The agreement is under review by Gulfport officials. Once signed, the crossing should be closed in six months.
City officials say railroad will also make sure any crossings in Gulfport that stay open have warning lights, bells, and crossing arms.
The work will be paid for by CSX and the state.
