Gulfport says OK to cottages

Published 1:15 am Sunday, January 18, 2009

The Gulfport City Council will allow Mississippi cottages as permanent housing within city limits with some restrictions.

All the neighbors living within a 160 foot radius of a cottage, must agree to allow it. The cottages, provided after Hurricane Katrina, must be owner occupied, and not rented to a third party.

Cottage owners must also have a foundation in place for the structure by May 1, 2009.
