Richard Lee Montgomery, the 54-year-old captain of the Pisgah Volunteer Fire Department who died last week while responding to a call, was remembered over the weekend as a dedicated and unselfish hero.
Montgomery was also a member of the Hobo Volunteer Fire Department. He was buried Saturday with honors at Oaklawn Memorial Park in Booneville.
Montgomery died Wednesday after responding to call at a burning home just north of Marietta in southwest Prentiss County. Officials believe Montgomery suffered a possible heart attack.
Nearly two dozen fire trucks and dozens of emergency vehicles joined the procession to the cemetery.
Hobo Fire Chief Randal Livingston said Montgomery was a dedicated firefighter who will be missed.
