Fire officials are investigating a blaze at a Mississippi College dorm that apparently started Saturday in the residence hall’s basement.
Mississippi College spokeswoman Tracey Harrison says about 50 students were relocated overnight because of concerns about air quality. The dorm houses 210 male students.
No one was hurt in the fire. A majority of the students were not at the dorm because of the holiday. The building is to reopen Monday afternoon.
Mississippi College officials did not have an estimate of the damage or cleanup costs.
Tim Shanks, deputy fire chief for the Clinton Fire Department, said his department has asked the state fire marshal to assist in the investigation.
